Interactivity.

After reading this lecture, it was noted that there is a fair amount of arguments regarding interactivity and the surrounding areas. Some academic figures see this as being techno-determinsm, which can often be percieved negativley. The techno-determinism model see's interactiving as being without authority, with no means of control. On the other hand, new media technology can be seen as socio-determinsim, a conrolled by those of a higher authority figure. Socio determinism "see's technology as a product of societies", the outcome of capitalist profit.

Thats all I have to say for this right now, I'll be back later.

  1. i have to agree that to some extent the introduction of interactive features such as seen on sky TV are for capitalist profits after the upgrade you would expect to be able able to get a whole range of new information that were previously not able to but within the upgrade oe still have to purchase additonal features to the package and the cycle continues. howover the introduction of interactivity has benefited sites like skype which now provide free calls over the internet in turn it also benefits society in this we see the positivity of interactivity

  2. Hi Rachel,
Don't hold back on your blog. It's true that the real work is in the reading and researching -but you need to demonstrate that online a bit more. At the moment some of your colleagues have 'blogarrhea' -possibly because of the novelty and also their touchtyping skills. I know I advised
a minimum of three posts a week, and quality is more important than quantity. However, I still think it looks like you're holding back a bit?

I think you need to go over techno & socio determinism again? Have a look at my blog, there are some linked posts on the topic.
